I woke at 6:30 this morning, got
my recharged portable phone from its stand, placed it on my bedside table, then
apparently fell into a sleep so deep I didn’t hear it ringing. Next thing
I knew I felt my shoulder being touched and looked up with my un-wigged balding head and
crossed eye to see two strange men, the nearest one saying, “I’m so
sorry, I’m so sorry, your family was worried about you.” The poor guy must
have thought I was in a coma. My answering machine doesn't seem to be working.
Darling KK, any time you are
worried in the future, just wait till nine a m, which is the latest I would want to
get up. If I’ve had one of my many restless nights, not getting to sleep
until 1:30 or 2:00, I value whatever remaining hours are granted. All
too often it’s my ingrown toenail that is tormenting me with its electrical zinging
as the cells attempt to dig their way into my helpless flesh. When that
happens, I have no choice but to get up, turn on the light, put a folded hand towel on the sidebar of my walker, place my foot on the towel, and use a nail file to dig just deep enough into the buzzing place to
make it stop keeping me awake. Then it's never easy to get back to
sleep.
I have consulted the Internet to see if anyone ever killed themselves over this problem. Apparently I am the only person among the world's seven billion to be thus afflicted. It would be intolerable if I hadn’t found the solution described. Wouldn’t you think having both big toenails surgically removed not once but twice would have kept them subdued?

I love you for loving me and
watching over me so faithfully, day and night.

Hi mom.
I will remember about the 9 AM time.
I was really worried because I called you twice yesterday evening and you didn’t answer and I left messages on your machine plus I sent two emails pleading with you to respond by email or call. Frank and I are off to a reception now but I expect we'll be back in time for me to call you before 10 tonight.
Sorry you had such a bad time last night.
Love
kk
